Yesterday, July 21, 2013, we decided to walk a few miles on the Rail Trail before errands and supper. We heard some melodious bird chatter, but didn’t recognize what type of bird we were hearing.

Meanwhile we were enjoying the colorful sight of what appeared to be many young people tubing down the river. We could see adults spotting them from kayaks, small craft, etc. Their chatter was quite melodious too.

Then we saw two eagles, a male and a female gliding in toward the tree line near us. The male bird sat quite still for a bit, fully visible on an outer branch; his profile was magnificent. The female was mostly covered by leaves. I suspect it was their chatter we heard.
